To extend the healing ministry of Jesus by improving the health of our community with emphasis on those who need long term acute care.
Not only do we provide excellent care, we strive to anticipate the needs of our patients. We take care of our patients as if they are one of our own family.
We specialize in long term acute care
Providing specialized long term acute care for medically complex patients who may have the following diagnosis:
- Multi system failure
- Respiratory failure on a ventilator
- Extensive wounds
- Chronic renal failure
- Infection requiring long term antibiotics
Specialty Hospital of Lorain is the only long term acute care (LTAC) facility in Lorain County. Currently the hospital is non profit joint venture of Mercy Regional Health System, UH Elyria Medical Center, and Grace Hospital.
We have 28 beds for patient care and are staffed with certified nurses in advanced cardiac life support.
We also have access to the services of UH Amherst Health Center, including radiology, laboratory and pharmacy.
Feedback from our patients is very important to us. At discharge, each patient is given a patient satisfaction survey to complete and return by mail. The comments and suggestions are used to continually improve our processes and services. 97% of our patients would highly recommend Specialty Hospital of Lorain.
